The Staff

Clark Trim:

Photo of Clark Trim, Owner Colonial Wines & Spirits    After spending four years in the US Army, two of which were in Germany, Clark became passionate about great food and wine and other beverages, and how important the right beverage is to the success of a great dining experience.

Clark spent the next 15 years working in the hospitality industry and studied food and wine management extensively in the US, Germany, and Holland. He has worked in clubs, restaurants, and hotels in those countries and Greenland, where he first met Henrik Thostrup in 1984.

Henrik Thostrup:

Photo of Henrik Thostrup, Owner Colonial Wines & Spirits    It is no surprise that food and wine have been a life-long passion of Henrik’s. He comes from a family in Denmark who has been in the hotel and restaurant business for five generations.

Henrik studied culinary arts in Denmark where he was certified as an executive chef, and has also studied food and wine in US, Holland, and Germany.

Clark and Henrik worked together in great clubs and restaurants, mostly in Europe, from 1984 until 1992, when they came to Colonial Wines and Spirits. They are both still very active in food and wine education.

They worked to help found Central Arkansas Wine Society, dedicated to the education of the art of wine, wine making, and wine and food as a part of American culture. At Colonial, Clark and Henrik specialize in assisting customers with planning any function of any size, and they really enjoy pairing the right wine with any meal.

David Fero, Assistant Manager:

Photo of David Fero, Assistant Manager Colonial Wines & Spirits    David has been with Colonial Wines & Spirits since 1996. He very quickly developed a passionate interest in wines of the world, as well as the other great products offered by Colonial Wines & Spirits.

Whether you enjoy a peaty malt whiskey from the Islay, 100% Blue Agave from Jalisco, Rum from Jamaica, Vodka from Russia, Poland, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, France or here at home in the USA, Gin, Bourbon, one of hundreds of cordials or a great beer or ale, David can make a knowledgeable, informed, and appreciated recommendation.

2. We will offer you a selection of fine wines, spirits, beers and ales, cigars, mixes, glassware, and accessories second to none.
3. We will offer very competitive prices. We will purchase from our suppliers smartly, demanding the best possible prices, and we will pass all the savings on to you. We will guarantee you fair pricing in the following ways:
  • Weekly advertised prices published every Wednesday in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, daily on our Marquee, weekly and monthly in our Newsletter, and Wine of Week, and every day, 24 hours a day at www.ARWineSales.com
  • We will honor any competitor’s advertised price. Please bring a copy of the ad.
  • Wednesday Wine Day. We will reduce the price of every wine, Champagne, and sparkling wine in the store by 15% (not already on sale or otherwise discounted).
  • Wine of the Week. We will select 2 - 4 wines weekly and offer them at a very special discounted price.
  • In-store specials. Look for Red Tags throughout the store representing great values on many items not advertised anywhere else but in the store.
