Newton Vineyards Unfiltered Chardonnay 2006 Napa Valley
Bright golden color, aroma of butterscotch and orchard fruit, on the palate is baked pear and peach with a whiff of apricot, some tropical notes. A long but soft finish. If you are looking for a summer wine that offers substantial flavor without lots of weight on the palate, give this one a try!

1999 Honig Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Color – A tawny-garnet color with a nearly opaque core and rosy highlights on the edge.
Aroma – Very pronounced raisin and dried cherry with some cedar and leather.
Palate – Lean tannins that silky and vibrant. The acidity and tannins of this wine are in ideal harmony. Cedary raspberry, cherry, clove, and mulberry on the palate with the faintest touch of mint on the finish.
Evaluation – This wine has developed quite a bit, to the point of Left Bank Bordeaux earthiness.
Enjoy,
Chris Calvert

Here are my notes for a few of the wines we tasted today at the Colonial Tasting Bar.
Grayson Cellars Chardonnay Lot 11 2008 California
Delicate and pear aromas that continue on the palate with a touch of minerality. Maybe a little toasty cinnamon. This Chard has a lovely mouthfeel, a bit creamy with acidity on the finish.
Elk Cove Pinot Noir Rose 2009 Willamette Valley, Oregon
Very delicate berry aromas with a litte zippy cranberry on the palate. Great for summer sipping or as a pairing with crab legs with butter.
Bell Pinot Noir 2008 Willamette Valley, Oregon
A very aromatic Pinot that has a little clove and maraschino cherry. On the palate is a little graphite and red fruit. The finish extends for a while, this one seems like it needs to rest for a bit longer.
Bruno Hunold Pinot Gris, 2006 Alsace, France
This wine was very impressive, reminding me at first of Vouvray style apricot with Moscato like honeysuckle. The palate of this wine is very rich and full with lots of ripe peach, baked pear, and more apricot. This is a shoe in to pair with very spicy Asian foods or with fruit parfait.
Cheers,
Chris Calvert
